SEVENTH HEAVEN FOR AFC MANSFIELD

Westella and AFC Mansfield finally got this game dealt with at the seventh attempt.Rain, snow, frost, electricity and gas could not stop this floodlit cup game going ahead.
From the start it looked a tough encounter for AFC and they soon fell behind to a penalty but continued to battle and were rewarded when Joe Naylor charged down a clearance and it went into the Westella net to make it 1-1.
The night looked as if it wasn't going to go Mansfields way when Mark Carter missed an opportunity to put them ahead and Westella went up field in the next attack and made it 2-1 after a rare mistake from the bulls goalkeeper.
This was just before the half time whistle and was a real body blow.
The AFC manager gave the players a stern talk at half-time and in true Bulls fashion the team came out a different beast in the second half.
They chased and harried the opposition and were soon rewarded when Mark Carter put them level at 2-2 after some fine work from Dean Rick.
The Bulls then hit a purple patch for 15 minutes and Dean Rick put on his shooting boots and soon bagged yet another hatrick.Matt Draper also volleyed home a goal as AFC Mansfield ran out 6-2 winners and now face Harworth in the area final on a date to be confirmed.
The winners of that then play against the winners of the southern area in the grand final.

This saturday sees AFC travel to Awsworth Villa in the Semi-final of the Notts intermediate cup with a 2.30pm kick-off.
