Clifton All Whites still lead the way in the Black Dragon
Badges South division, but for the second Saturday running they were pushed all
the way by one of the bottom markers. Last week it took a last gasp goal to
beat Barrowby, this week it was the turn of Holbrook St Michaels, still without
a win this season, who came close before going down 2-1. Aaron Mitchell and
Chris Atkins saw Clifton home, with Chris Saunders scoring for Holbrook.
After
beating Mickleover Royals in midweek, Bilborough Pelican came unstuck at
Swanwick Pentrich Road, the final score here also 2-1. Ant Fay and a Shane
Buckerfield penalty gave the hosts the edge, Dave Udoh’s 93rd minute
reply for Pelican coming far too late.
Belper United went down to their third
defeat in four games, Bulwell scoring twice in the last ten minutes to seal a
4-2 home win. Scott Litchfield struck twice for the Bulls, with Conor Carter
and Marek Vipond also on target, Sam Vickers scoring both of Belper’s goals.
Southwell City move up to fourth spot, following up their midweek point in an
excellent game with South Normanton with a two goal defeat of Blidworth
Welfare. Cameron Blackburn and Anthony Brown both scored to extend the home
side’s unbeaten run to five matches.
One point separates the next five teams,
and Allenton United moved up to sixth with a 3-0 win over neighbours Mickleover
RBL, with a goal apiece for Sam Blount, Danny Briscoe and Oliver Buxton. Three
second half goals helped Mickleover Royals to a 4-0 win over Barrowby, Lucas
Radjewski scoring twice to take his season’s tally to nine, with one each for
Conor Domachowski and Sam Griffiths. Hucknall Town have now lost just once in
their last eight games, and a Mark Smith goal was enough to give them all the
points at home to Real United. Calverton Miners Welfare picked up their second
point of the campaign in a goalless draw with Linby Colliery.
In the Black Dragon Badges North division Thoresby Colliery
Welfare finally played their first home match of the season, but it wasn’t a
happy homecoming as leaders AFC Mansfield claimed an early double, scoring six
without reply. There was a double here for Mark Carter, with Joe Naylor, Lee
Easom, Callum Green and a Dean Rick penalty making the half dozen.
Westella
Hanson seem to be adopting the Dronfield Town role this time round, and they
kept pace with AFC with a 4-2 win at Ollerton Town. Tristan Burrell’s brace
took his tally to eleven for the season, but the East Yorkshire side took the
points with Garry Flounders, Matt Fyvie, Dave Gordon and Chris Spinks all
finding the net.
A goal from Phoenix’s Steve Spence gave them maximum points at
Bentley Colliery, while at Debdale Park, Clay Cross Town came out on top by two
goals to one against Sherwood Colliery. Keenan Leeds was the Sherwood scorer,
with Ant Lynam and an own goal shading it for the Derbyshire side.
Life doesn’t
get any easier for Welbeck Welfare, and it must have been a miserable trek home
from Easington United after they were on the wrong end of a 9-1 scoreline. This
gave Easington their first win of the season, the goals coming from Sam Huteson
(3), Paul Wilkinson (2), Gavin Thirkettle (2), Adam Jamieson and Lewis Andrew,
with Stef Frost responsible for Welbeck’s reply.
Brodsworth Welfare and Kinsley
Boys shared four goals and the points, James Hendry and Gaz Mundy’s goals for
Brodsworth being answered by two for Kinsley’s Josh Stacey.
The match between
Thorne Colliery and Glapwell was abandoned after 77 minutes due to a serious
injury. Thorne were leading 2-0 through Scott Rhodes and an own goal.
The Reserve Supreme division programme was reduced to just
four matches due to County Cup ties. Matlock Town moved level with Dronfield
Town at the top of the table, goals from Dave Edge and Liam Hendley giving them
a 2-1 win over Long Eaton United, for whom Guy Sims was on target. Borrowash
Victoria’s Ryan Baker was the day’s top scorer, his four goals helping them to
an 8-3 win at Radford. Vics’ other scorers were Jake Dodds with two, Scott
Staniland and Sam Bayliss, with Joshua Muschett (2) and Byron Webster getting
the home side’s goals. Heanor Town beat lowly Retford United 3-1 at the Town
Ground. The scorers here were Jordan Leeming, Liam Barber and Alex Marshall for
the home side, Sam Hutchinson getting one back for Retford. Graham Street
Prims’ recent slump continued with a 3-1 home defeat to Dunkirk. Keenan
Meakin’s goal for Prims wasn’t enough as Colbey Bishop (2) and Tom Moore
wrapped up the points for the Boatmen.
Sherwood Colliery preserved their 100% record in the Reserve
Premier division by winning 3-0 at Mickleover RBL, thanks to Darren Hibberd,
Ashley Giugno and Craig Buchanan. Mickleover Royals Alex Taylor was their star
with a hat-trick as they beat Thoresby Colliery Welfare 5-0, Thomas Sheffield
and Nick Shardlow adding the other two. Late goals at Scrooby Road saw Harworth
Colliery end Allenton United’s unbeaten run, the final score 3-2. Thomas Cooke,
Scott Hardman and Greg Fox were Harworth’s scorers, Neil Licence and an own
goal responsible for Allenton’s two.
The Notts Intermediate Cup got under way, with pride of
place going to Newark Town Reserves, who ousted Bilborough Pelican of the
Reserve Supreme on their own ground 3-2. Daryl Price with two and Jake Reynolds
were Newark’s heroes. Teversal also made it to the next round, Simon Groves’
goal seeing them past Rainworth Rangers. Not much joy for CML teams in the
other ties. Blidworth Welfare went out on penalties, after drawing 2-2 at AFC
Bridgford, Calverton Miners Welfare lost 3-2 at Kimberley Miners Welfare and
Welbeck Welfare’s hopes were dashed as they went down 6-0 to Bingham Town.
Finally, goals by Alex Rennie and Leon Cusworth weren’t
quite enough to avoid an ambush by Robin Hood Athletic in the West Riding
Senior Cup, the final score 3-2.
