AFC
Mansfield made very hard work of this game against Thorne Colliery at
The Forest Town Stadium. After missing a couple of early chances there
was nothing in it in a very scrappy game.
The pitch was very heavy after a
lot of rain and it was not good to watch.
The teams went in 0-0 at
half-time with Thorne doing very little in the attacking third.
Manager
Micky Taylor gave the players a stern talking to at half time and they
came out of the traps a lot brighter in the second period.
Joe Naylor
broke the deadlock to the relief of the home support and the bulls began
to play with more belief. Striker Callum Green was thrown
into the fray and was unlucky on a couple of accasions not to extend
the lead.
It was left to Jammy Meehan to show them how its done. In a rare
venture forward he
took on the whole Thorne defence and slammed the ball home in a move
that was a little Messi-esque.
The game ended 2-0 and all in
all it was another 3 points for AFC as they ground out another result.
It
keeps them at the top of the table with the finish line in sight.
