AFC
Mansfield put in a very professional perfomance to push through into
the semi finals of the Baris League Cup away at Newark Town.
The Bulls
looked up for it from the start and although the home side tried to make
it a physical battle AFC soon took the lead through Mark Carter who
found space wide left and calmly stroked the ball home.
Newark were
reduced to 10 men as the home side continued to be physical and during
this half Ricky Chambers had to come off the field with a head butt from
the back and was left to taste the grass.
He was concussed for the rest
of the game and took no further part.
The game went into half time 1-0
with AFC well on top.
In the second half The Bulls stepped on
the gas and took control with Dean Rick soon adding a second with a
cheeky
side heel into the net. From this point Newark were never going to come
back and as the game wore on Mark Carter added his second of the
game.
Leading striker Dean Rick showed his scoring prowess and soon
notched another hat-trick to make the score an emphatic 5-0 victory to
AFC Mansfield.
They are now in all three semi-finals of the cups much to
the credit of the whole squad.
