If
anyone has never been to Bentley the pitch is very low and surrounded
by a bank and so has very little drainage. With the pitch having had
plenty of rain it was a case of get the game on and make the best of
it.
AFC went about their business and tried to play football and the home
defence stood firm for a while until Joe Naylor broke the deadlock.
Matt
Draper added one to make it 2-0 and it was just then a case of seeing
out the game.Joe Naylor added a second and AFC went in 3-0 up at half
time.
In the second half more rain ensued and the pitch turned
into a mud bath which made for good entertainment and some dirty
kits.
Mark Robinson and Callum Green entered the fray and soon showed
that they had a turn of pace and Mark Robinson made it 4-0 with a
headed goal .
Callum Green then scored on his debut for the club and looks a fine
prospect.
Danny Mclane settled the score at 6-0 to the Bulls with a
penalty.
Funny part of the day was when AFC were awarded a
penalty and Mark Carter raced up the field through the mud to claim
it.
He must have tired himself out sprinting in the mud and he fluffed
the penalty with a cheer going up from the away support.
Just one of many
funny moments in the game.
All credit must go to the officials for keeping the game on and both sets of players for using common sense in the conditions.
The
Bulls remain top of the table and travel up to Westella on Tuesday to
replay the floodlit cup game that was abandoned at the last attempt.
