Dean Rick
plundered 9 goals in a devastating display of finishing that saw AFC Mansfield
win by 14-0 against opponents Yorkshire Main. A brace each from Mark Carter and
Joe Naylor and a strike from Mark Robinson completed the rout with ‘The Bulls’
having scored 30 goals without reply against the Doncaster based side in two
one sided games this season.
AFC took the lead after just 5 minutes; Carl Haslam beat two defenders on the right side of the visitor’s box and pulled the ball back for Rick to finish from 6 yards. Rick then missed two easy chances heading wide twice after being set up by Carter. Rick then turned provider on the half hour mark, turning two defenders before setting up Joe Naylor to finish from close range.

home from 20 yards.
Mark Carter got the fourth goal on 43 minutes, waiting on the far post for a simple tap in from Naylor and Rick’s hard work. Rick completed his first hat-trick at the end of the half, taking Danny Naylor’s pass in his stride before firing past the stranded Richard Thomas.
The Naylor brothers linked up to provide the sixth goal, a superb Danny Naylor through ball to brother Joe saw him hold off the challenge from Mick Barker before firing home.
Dale Sheppard made a rare save from James Connor on the hour mark and two minutes later saw James Smith shave the bar with a 25 yard effort.

On 70 minutes
the floodgates opened Gary Armstrong sending Rick clear to bag his fourth and
AFC’s seventh of the day.
Within 3 minutes Rick had bagged 2 more to make it 9-0 and his second hat-trick of the match. Rick made it 10-0 on 76 minutes as the visitors back four disintegrated and more misery was to come. Newcomer Mark Robinson then got in on the act with a low drive from just outside the box that found its way past the outstretched arms of Thomas to make it 11-0.
Back came Rick with another goal on 80 minutes to make it 12-0.
Mark Carter made it 13 with a 15 yard shot on 85 minutes. But it was left to Dean Rick to finish the scoring and complete his third hat-trick to complete a memorable day for the striker and the club.
