AFC
Mansfield moved into the third round of the league cup with a
comprehensive victory over Linby Colliery.
It was again a tough game
similar to the away tie but this time AFC didn't allow them back into the
game.
Carl Haslam started the game after illness and showed the turn of
speed to run onto a through ball beat the goal keeper and put into an
empty net.He could have had another a little later but the referee
adjudged him offside having clearly run from an onside position and calmly chipped the goalie.
The teams went in 1-0 at half time
Danny
Mclane was the surprise scorer of the second as he hit a long range shot
which squirmed under the goalkeeper to everyone's surprise mostly the
keepers.
After AFC went close on a couple of occasions Joe Naylor scored
his first goal for the
club to complete the 3-0 scoreline as he smashed the ball home.
The only
down side to the night was striker Dean Rick coming off with a tight
hamstring but hopefully he has caught it early enough to gain a quick
recovery.
The Bulls will now face Calverton Miners Welfare
away in the third round with the date to be announced.
League action is
resumed on Saturday with an away at Bentley Colliery.
