STAVELEY MW U21 0-3 AFC MANSFIELD U21

AFC Mansfield U21's produced a powerful performance to overcome League Champions Staveley MW U21's on Tuesday night.

From the 1st minute The Bulls were dominant and it took just 8 minutes for them to take the lead.  Jamie York applying the finishing touch with a neat turn and shot inside the box.

2 minutes later and Man of the Match Declan Brewin nearly doubled the lead.  Having his ankle clipped just inside the box didn't stop the striker from beating Chris Butt with a bobbling effort that hit the post before going behind.

The chances kept coming and Butt was in action again on 17 minutes when he turned a superb Danny Williams free kick around the post.  From the resulting corner Joe Cheeseman headed narrowly over the bar.

Eden Homer headed straight at Butt around the half hour mark and Staveley rattled the AFC bar on 40 minutes.

The Young Bulls doubled their lead just before the break.  A throw into the box was flicked on by Sam O'Malley to the feet of Brewin.  A neat turn by the striker and he rifled his shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards.

Butt saved comfortably from a Williams free kick at the start of the 2nd half.

AFC Mansfield completed the scoring on 57 minutes.  Staveley conceded a corner and the cry came out 'We do not concede here'.  Unfortunately Joe Cheeseman had other ideas and rose above the pack to powerfully head home.

Staveley looked to get back into the game on 69 minutes when a scramble in the box saw keeper Bailey Caller just managing to get a foot to a goalbound effort and guide it onto the post before Jordan Annable hooked the ball away.

Superbly marshalled at the back by Captain Brad Wilson, The Young Bulls were in no mood to concede.

A couple of goalmouth scrambles in the last 10 minutes saw the Staveley defence tested but resolute and in the dying minutes with just the keeper to beat a Staveley substitute hoisted the ball over the bar from 15 yards.

With that the whistle blew and AFC Mansfield were the Champions!!
