In
a game that was that was always going to be keenly contested Ollerton
came up short once again. The home side huffed and puffed but couldnt
come up with the goods and just about wrote off any hope of contending
for the title.
Carl Haslam was back on form and after some
fine work by Phil Buxton and a great cross, Haslam was first to the ball
to poke the ball home.
He again hit the back of the net in the second
half with a clinical finish to make the final score 2-0 to AFC Mansfield
and keeps them top of the league.During the game Dean Rick was very
unlucky on a couple of occasions not to get on the scoresheet and if
were not for the Ollerton keeper he would have bagged.
There
were four booking for either side in the game and there were some tasty
challenges which
was expected given the history of the game.Ollerton tested on a couple
of occasions but could not breach the Mansfield defence and the
partnership of Matt Draper and Steve Mcgurk stood firm.
Keeper Ed Eley
commanded his area well and again stood firm under pressure to keep a
clean sheet.
All attention is now drawn to the Dronfield game next week
at The Forest Town Stadium which could decide where the title goes.
