It
was a big effort to get this game on from everyone at the club. The
players responded by getting a convincing 9-0 victory against local
neighbours Welbeck .
They never gave up the fight and are a great bunch
of people with the right attitude. They held out for a good 25 minutes
before the deadlock was broken and put up a brave defence and it was
only 3-0 at half time.
Dean Rick was again the top marksmen adding four
goals to his tally and got the 100th league goal for AFC Mansfield .
Mark
Carter added another brace, Phil Buxton, Gary Armstrong and an own goal
making up the tally.
The game ended DFS Welbeck 0 AFC Mansfield 9.
Joe
Naylor made his debut for AFC Mansfield and showed why manager Micky
Taylor was so keen to sign him.He has been transferred form
Carlton Town and adds another dimension to the midfield options at the
club.
He puts a bit of height into the midfield areas and showed why he
has played at a higher level. His brother Danny plays at AFC and i am
sure the family tie will see him enjoy his time with AFC.
Micky
will look to make a couple of other additions to the squad to freshen
things up and add depth for the run-in with four honours still to play
for and numbers getting thin on the ground.Injuries and suspensions
kick-in this time of the year and the club could only just fill the
bench for this one with coach Graham Rodgers putting on his boots.
AFC Mansfield now look forward to the league cup tie away at Linby on the 5th January 2013.
Happy New Year ! to everyone connected with the club.
