In
this encounter against local rivals Ollerton Town, AFC ran out 4-3
winners and move into the next round of the floodlit cup.
It was always
going to be a keenly contested game and on the night there were plenty
of meaty challenges and goals.
AFC never really looked like losing the
game but Ollerton asked questions at times and got their
rewards.Mansfield started the game very sloppily but did take the lead
through Kieren Watson who is settling in well and getting on the
score sheet regular.Ollerton soon drew level and didnt lie down and
played their part in an entertaining game.
Danny Naylor got his name on
the board to make it 2-1.Again Ollerton hit back to make it 2-2 and for a
moment the floodlights began to flicker.
However Kieren Watson added a
second to make it 3-2.Dean
Rick then hit another great strike to make it 4-2 and it looked like
AFC would go on to win convincingly but Ollerton had the last word and
grabbed one back to make the final score 4-3 but AFC went through on the
night.
There was a good crowd of 140 for this cup tie and
this sets up two good games when the clubs meet in the league in the
coming months.
AFC Mansfield now turn their attentions to the Notts
Intermediate cup this saturday when they take on Old Elizabethans.
The Bulls march on !
