A fantastic free kick on 70 minutes by Danny Tighe sealed
this game after Thorne had put in a gutsy performance against AFC
Mansfield.From outside of the area Tighe put the game beyond doubt as his precisely
struck free kick found the net.
Thorne put out a side that would be challenging at the top
if they could assemble it regularly and had the best centre half pairing AFC
had faced all season.
However both Haslam and Rick had penalty claims turned down
during the game and when Rick was clear through on goal it was claimed he fell
over to the amazement of the travelling Mansfield fans.
Jammy Meehan made it 2-0 late on to secure the victory as he
was put in by Haslam and calmly slotted it past the keeper.
However there was more commotion near the end as Haslam was
stamped on in the area and was then sent off along with the Thorne keeper who
turned into Rambo and wanted to fight everyone on the pitch.
It all calmed down in the end and it is another 3 points towards
the ultimate goal of promotion for AFC Mansfield.
