In this top of the table clash AFC Mansfield came out clear winners winning
6-1.Afc have now gone six points clear at the top of the table.Mansfield started
the game with several players missing through injury,suspension and holidays but
should they have strength in depth within in the squad which boades well for the
season.
The first half was very tense with neither side wanting to take
chances,however Carl Haslam stepped up to the plate to put AFC 1-0 up and settle
the home sides nerves..Haaaslam then made it 2-0 from a corner as he purposely
went for goal and managed to bend it in leaving the Harworth defence
flatfooted.The points looked to be going Mansfield way but just before half time
Harworth pulled one back and the teams went in 2-1.
The AFC Mansfield
centre half Matt Draper was very displeased conceding a goal and after the break
they came out more determined to put the game to bed.It was not long before Dean
Rick made his mark with a goal from open play and he then bagged a penalty.Carl
Haslam popped up again to claim his hatrick when he cheekily slotted the ball
through the keepers legs to the delight of the 195 spectators at the game.Danny
McLean was a surprise name on the scoresheet. As AFC Mansfield ran out 6-1
winners to cement there place at the top of the table..
AFC now travel to
Thorn Colliery next Saturday with no midweek game scheduled.
