DOUBLE CHAMPIONS

Graham Caller's AFC Mansfield U18's side produced a superb display on Friday night to secure their 2nd League Championship of the season.

After an initial nervy opening period the Young Bulls scored 3 1st half goals to put themselves in an unassailable position.  Firstly a sweet 30 yard volley from Captain Jordan Annable, followed up by a Ben Charlesworth header and a 15 yard strike from top goalscorer George Holloway saw them 3-0 up.

Double Champions

The visitors Mansfield Hosiery Mills pulled one back before half time to make the game more interesting.  In fairness to The Hosiery Mills they came out in the 2nd period and chased the game.  A 2nd goal came with 15 minutes to go and this gave AFC Mansfield something to think about.  But the side held firm and there was clear jubilation on the final whistle from the Double Winners!

This gave the side an undefeated season at home with just one defeat away and 2 draws in The Chad Youth League U18's Division One.

On Sunday's they went a step further and finished the whole season undefeated.  Winning 10 and drawing 2 they amassed 72 goals in 12 games and conceded just 8.

Their presentation evening is on Saturday 4th June at The Cuckoo Birch, Oak Tree Lane and all associated with the club are welcome.

Well done to all the lads and management for a hugely succesful season.

Oliver Fearon, 21 years old, is an attacking wide player who is well known to the club.  'Ollie' scored against us twice, once in a 2-1 home defeat and again in a 3-2 away win whilst playing for Penistone Church.

His 22 goals last season made him Penistone Church's top goalscorer.
