GREAT MOMENTS FOR THE YOUTH TEAMS

As we approach the end of the season its time to celebrate great moments.  We have asked all of our youth team managers to provide us with their performance of the season.

A 3-2 away win at Brimwood provided the best U11 team performance of the season.  We came in 1-0 down at half time and went back out fighting.  Great individual goals for Krystian Zapal and Keanan Coggeran, and a trade mark free kick from Matthew Walker sealed the points.

The U7s entertained us all with a 4-1 win against a very strong Beaufort team, these kids never give up and play great football. Great team performance sparked off with a lovely Rio Frost goal and great individual performances for Ashton Hopley (3) Jenson Ward, and Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Walker.

AFC Mansfield Ladies striker Millee Clarke has had as season to remember, she finished the season as the leagues top goal scorer with 68 goals in only 18 league and cup games, she also broke the AFC scoring record for goals in one game twice along the way, 10 against west bridgford and 11 against wollaton, a truly magnificent talent that we are all proud of.

The moment of the season for the AFC Mansfield U 16 was in the notts shield semi final. This was a nail biting game from the start one of the biggest games the boys have been involved in and the first time our team have entered this competition.

The 1st half was full of chances for our boys we hit the cross bar, just went wide and were caught out by the keeper. They used the weather that day and the wind produced them 2 chances which they managed to put away. We went  into half time 2 nil down. After a bit of a talking to and sum inspirational words from Andy Saunders himself which could be classed as un-repeatable we went back out to give everything we had. Within the first 5 minutes of 2nd half our keeper was sent off, leaving us with 10 men a quick formation change of 3 at the back we went full pelt with all we had. 15 minutes later we were drawing 2-2. The other team were then rattled and their heads were down we took advantage and within another 10 min we had put another one away- end result AFC 3 - Bestwood 2 with a solid performance from our back 3 and a determined performance from the team we became notts shield finalists in our first season as AFC and 1 st time of entering the competition.

The moment for the under 10's was in the cup as well. our magic moment from the under tens was a quarter final game in the knock out cup away to hosiery mills we was one nil down with a few minutes remaining when Aaron Clarke sloted in an equaliser . We then went to extra time and Aaron Clarke scored a winner to send us through . The team looked beat but a great performance by them all turned the game.

The under 15 boys moment of the season was when the final whistle went to win the league championship.  The boys went unbeaten with maximum points.  We had a goal difference of 111 in only 14 games.  A great bunch of lads made a great team.

I think that these performances have shown that all AFC Mansfield teams this season have had some great times.  It's been a long journey from September to now and we have all learnt so much about our teams and players.  We set out with two objectives at the start of the season and they were to have some fun and win some football matches.  I think that we have achieved both.  A great first season and it's time to start planning for next season to ensure that we can continue to achieve our goals.

Hopefully we will have won the league by 5pm tonight and we can to plan for the new season with our 1st team in the league above.  Remember if you have not got your tickets for the end of season dinner that you can still get them from your manager.

GOALKEEPER REQUIRED FOR THE U12's

AFC Mansfield have an opportunity for an experienced goal keeper for the 2014/15 season at the U12 age group (other positions may be considered).
We are entering the Mansfield Chad league on Saturday and Kickstart league on Sunday, but would only need the new keeper for either Saturday or Sunday at this stage and not for both.
We are an exciting and improving team and would also consider any player capable of strengthening our team.

An early goal 8 minutes into the re-start put 'The Bulls' ahead and in a pulsating cup tie where both sides had chances to score again the Mansfield side kept the one goal advantage.
